World Board Certification concentrates on reform in the field natural medicine, viewed by the public often as alternative and complementary medicine. WONMP Board Certification is a demonstration of a practitioner's knowledge base as measured against high and rigorous standards. The need for an international forum of standards was filled by a broad base of practitioners engaging in our self-evaluation, educational process. This can now be done by any practitioner, anywhere in the world, online.
The online examinations consist of five in a series:
1. Human Anatomy,
2. chemistry and physiology;
3. pathology;
4. clinical pathology; and
5. medical sciences.
A study guide is provided for each section and is freely downloaded upon enrollment. All self-evaluation guided questions are multiple choice or true false. Each of the five sections are broken down into 10 sections, making it easy to complete in segments, on a day-by-day basis. Each segment is a one hour exam, but the applicant is allowed two hours, and one retake if successful completion is less than 70% correct. Applicant gets to review the correctly answered questions. The exams are designed to be instructive, not punitive. We embrace all practitioners of our various and sacred disciplines (oriental medicine, homeopathy, manipulative therapies, dietary and nutritional counseling, herbal medicine, etc.), and those which are indigenous (Indian, Hindu, Tibetan, Polynesian, Philippino, Brazilian, Egyptian, South African, etc.).
The World Organization Board Certification self-evaluation process, requires intense self-reflection and analysis of one's own education, and is a professional developmental experience. Having measured their knowledge base against the highest standards for the profession. Practitioners speak eloquently about how the experience produces deeper learning outcomes resulting in better practice standards. They are strengthened in their practice and emerge from the experience with a lasting commitment to professional growth, not only individually, but for the profession and WONMP at large.
It is therefore imperative that all practitioners conform to a practice standards for our natural medicines at large. For many years, websites have exhibited disrepect if not contempt for natural and indigenous methods. We as a profession must move ahead in a spirit of self-regulation and participate in a spirit of unity. Only today with the power and speed of the internet can we now embrace the world into a body of practitioners that have complied with a standard in basic medical sciences. No schooling is required for the responsible, if not heuristic, self-educated practitioner.

Offered on a voluntary basis and valid for 5 years, the advanced system of National Board Certification complements, but does not replace, state licensing. Each state or jurisdiction decides how best to capitalize on the World Board Certification process and the expertise of WONMP's Board Certified Practitioners as it designs instructional arrangements to promote and support professional practice.
